Bessie Giannakakis - Mrs. Minnesota-America 2007

The reigning Mrs. Minnesota-America 2007 is Bessie Giannakakis. Bessie was crowned on June 9th, 2007 at the world-renowned Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul, MN, where she competed with 13 other local titleholders from across the state. Bessie won Best Costume and Best Evening Gown. This was Bessie’s 2nd attempt at the title having been 1st runner-up at the 2005 Mrs. Minnesota-America pageant. Needless to say, she couldn’t believe it when she heard her name being called as the winner! She and her husband Sam will celebrate their 3 year anniversary in September.

Bessie is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts in Boston, MA, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English. Bessie has had some interesting jobs such as a Greek Interpreter, an Anchor on Cable news and an Executive Assistant and Events Coordinator for a software company where she had clients such as NASCAR, Ferrari, and Boeing. Bessie is now a Realtor and Vice President of Metropolis Custom Homes, LLC, a company that specializes in remodeling and building custom homes for their clients.

Bessie loves fashion modeling having been a model and pageant coach for several years. She has participated in numerous pageants while growing up and loves being active in the fashion and pageant industry. She enjoys playing the piano and has won an award for best musician.

Bessie’s platform is implementing programs in schools to teach young adults about emotional and physical abuse in relationships.

In their spare time, Bessie and Sam enjoy traveling, spending time with family and friends, walking along the lakes with their two dogs Angel and Poochie, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, staying active in the community, reading, baking and cooking. They strive to maintain a balanced lifestyle, which includes a commitment to family, community, fitness, and spirituality. Bessie’s motto is it’s all about having a positive attitude in everything you do in life and that “Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it.”

At Mrs. America, Bessie was one of the top 3 voted in by the other 46 contestants for the chance to enter the top 5 finalists. Even though she did not have the opportunity to enter the top 5, she felt honored that she had been voted in.

The 2008 Mrs. Minnesota-America Pageant

The 2008 Mrs. Minnesota Pageant will be held June 7th, 2008 at the Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Bessie Giannakakis, Mrs. Minnesota-America 2007 will be on hand to crown her successor.

Numerous prizes will be awarded, including air and hotel accommodations to the Mrs. America Pageant, a full scholarship to Premiere Modeling School in Minneapolis, and personal fitness consultations..
