Jayne Black - Mrs. Wisconsin-America 2007

On June 9, 2007, Jayne Black of DePere, Wisconsin was selected as Mrs. Wisconsin-America, alongside the newly-crowned Mrs. Minnesota-America and Mrs. Iowa-America. She was thrilled when her name was finally called as the winner as this had been a goal of hers for nine years!

Jayne is a Business Support Accounts Specialist at PAI in DePere, Wisconsin. Jayne is very active in community service promoting her platform of Learning Disability Awareness. Being a person with a learning disability, and having a son who has one, she knows just how important early diagnosis is and how great the need is to continue to educate people on the early warning signs. Jayne has her own organization called Mission ABC which stand for Awareness Brings Change. You can visit her website at www.missionabc.homestead.com.

She is married to her husband Craig, an instructor at Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton. Together they have one child, a son, Cooper. She also has three other children, Nathan, Erin, and Sam and two step children, Barney and Casey.

Nine years ago Jayne started participating in 'Mrs. Pageants' as a way to grow as a person and to set a goal for herself and achieve it. She believes it is very important for women to really love themselves by taking time for themselves.

She says "So many times we, as wives and mothers, give to everyone but ourselves. But we must love ourselves enough to make time to grow as a person and pursue the things that we love, too. When you take care of yourself then you can give to others out of the overflow, and not from a deficit within. Pageants create an environment where your confidence will grow because it puts you in situations that you are not normally in, in your daily lives. This can help you tremendously in your daily lives as you learn how to react and handle diverse situations.

Pageants also teach you the importance of believing in yourself. After all, you cannot expect others to believe in you if you cannot believe in yourself first! Pageants are more about the journey you live while competing for the title, than actually receiving the title. Pageants are also a wonderful springboard for bringing attention to your platform and the things that you are passionate about."

Jayne's organization, Mission ABC raises funds to give to youth with learning disabilities as scholarships for college. Jayne did not think she was "smart enough" to go to college, as her learning disability was not diagnosed until she was an adult. Not wanting any other child to doubt themselves or to think that having a learning disability means they are "not smart", she is determined to use the title of Mrs. Wisconsin - America to promote her platform to the fullest.

She encourages other women to follow their hearts and grow in ways that they never dreamed possible by entering pageants! Jayne's motto for life is Never Give Up, No Matter What! By never giving in to difficult situations and never giving up, you show true strength. While Jayne is proud and deeply honored to have been crowned Mrs. Wisconsin - America, she believes that even if you never receive a crown and a sash, the lessons you learn when competing, and the people you meet along the way are very valuable and an honor themselves.

If you would be interested in contacting Jayne for an appearance or a speaking engagment please email her at MrsWisconsin2007@gmail.com.

It would be impossible for Jayne to do anything she has done without her sponsors. She is proud to be supported by Krueger International, Laser and Aesthetics in Green Bay, Aesthetic Spa in Green Bay, The Green Bay Packers, DuBois Formal Wear & Elaine's Bridal in Green Bay, Stacie Maus with Resource One in DePere, Holly & Rob Coleman, and Mr & Mrs. Adriansen!!!
